so what have we been up to?
we went to gozo after malta and fell in love with the place. before we went to malta we had never even heard of gozo and now it's in our hearts forever (not to sound too cheesy!). it's much much quieter then malta. the people are SO friendly, warm and helpful. correct me if i'm wrong but i think there are more maltese/gozoians in australia then there is on the islands. there are 40,000 people in gozo. the island is very small. we also hired a car here which you HAVE to do to get around. otherwise you catch clunky hot old buses that you always have to get from the main city on the island to your destination. a pain in the arse that we gladly avoided!
so we spent our 3 days in gozo swimming in deep blue, gorgeous water (the best diving in the med), sightseeing (we saw the oldest temples in the world), soaking up the sun, eating great food and drinking yummy wine. we went to a wine festival one night that was really just a bunch of drunken locals, a pig on spit (lachie's favorite!) and lots of good wine (grapes from italy, made in malta).
we were really reluctant and sad to leave these really beautiful friendly islands.
but never fear!
the day after we got back to london we hopped on the eurostar and headed to paris for 6 nights.
ohhh paris!
this was our little trip to end our trips and celebrate our 4 years of being together and it was perfect!
we did everything on our list:
versailles-massive and amazing, looking forward to the movie coming out about marie-antoinette
the louvre-massive and not as good as we thought. but loved the mona lisa surprisingly!
musee d'orsay-amazing! overwhelmingly amazing!
moulin rouge-way campier, less raunchy then we thought...
the massive markets-crazy and funny and weird
french restaurants-divine!
shopping-painful when poor...
picnic at the eiffel tower- ended up drinking alot of the bubbly stuff and meeting a few 'interesting' characters
catch up with my friend lisa-great source for the non-touristy side of paris
we compromised on the accommodation so we could enjoy paris but now we aren't so sure it was worth it. though we were paying 34€ a night, having the toilet (with the cracked seat and no toilet paper) one floor down and the shower 2 floors down with no soap, the bed with broken springs and the smell of dusty musty (which equals not much sleep). lets just say it kept things interesting!
and NOW...
we are back. for good (although lachies already looking at more flights to brussels and back to amsterdam) tomorrow we will start looking for jobs and a place to live. we already have the next month of weekends booked up with camping and walks in the city and playing with our new (but old as alot of people i grew up with have moved over here at the same time) group of friends. and also loosing our belly's from too much eating out at yummy restaurants.
i don't think the adventure will ever end and we like it this way.
now i promise we will put up all our favorite pictures from our travels.
and if you come to london you'll have a place to stay!
love sal and lac

sounds like you two are having the best time. good luck finding jobs and accomodation in london. hopefully it won't be too much of a challenge. i think the more difficult part will be getting back into work mode after all the good times you have had over the past few months. wow.
